Should you hire a makeup artist for your wedding? – Part 3
Your wedding day should be everything you’ve ever dreamed of, and you will find that every detail is important. In order to have the most amazing day of your life, invest in hiring a professional makeup artist. Your makeup savvy friends and family will no doubt offer to do your makeup on the big day, and although it might save money – just say no, thank you. You want to be able to have a consultation with a professional and experienced makeup artist. She will know the latest makeup, brushes, techniques and styles. Whether your bridal look is natural or fully done up with fake eyelashes and all, a makeup artist will know how to make you look your best.
When choosing a makeup artist to hire for your wedding day, make sure that she comes highly recommended. Asking friends that have recently been married is always a good place to start. Also consider where you want your makeup done on your wedding day. Will you go to their salon, or do you want your makeup done at another location where you will be getting ready all day? Location is a major factor in the price you will pay for a makeup artist. Almost always, it is cheaper to go to their salon or place of business, but remember, you will be tight on time during your wedding day and it might be worth the extra money to have the convenience of the makeup artist come to you. Also consider the other women in the wedding: the mother of the bride, maid of honor, bridesmaids, mother of the groom, and flower girl – would they want their makeup done, too? Don’t feel like you need to pay for the other women’s makeup, but if they would like to pay for it on their own, it’s a nice touch to include for everyone.
With all other wedding vendors, it’s important to speak to 2 to 3 until you find the right price and the right person for the job. It’s imperative that you have a trial run with your makeup artist before your wedding day. During this time, you will have a consultation about your look, such as: what your dress looks like, your hair, the bridesmaid dresses, flowers, venue, where pictures will be taken, etc. The makeup artist will then do your makeup how she will do it for your wedding day. Never be shy about expressing your ideas and thoughts about your look – she may be the professional, but it’s your wedding day! Once you are satisfied with your look for the wedding, it is her job to remember exactly what she did and what products she used. Ideally, she will give you a list of makeup to buy for touch-ups throughout your wedding day. Usually this includes lip gloss, lip liner, or lipstick, and powder. Assign one of your bridesmaids to touch-up your makeup throughout your wedding. You will be too busy with other things to even notice or remember to do so.
By hiring a professional makeup artist, you can put your mind at ease that you will look absolutely flawless on your wedding day. It will be money well spent and a necessity for any beautiful bride.
